With backgrounds rooted in audio technology, as well as accessible multimedia production and equipment installation, UAA is the culmination of its executive team’s career-spanning dedication to developing innovative Audio/Visual systems integration and to expanding the boundaries of accessibility for individuals with special needs. Collectively, over the last thirty years, UAA’s senior management have designed and installed sound, lighting, and video systems for numerous venues, including world renowned museums and public spaces. They have created award winning audio production and produced accessible programming for every major television network. They have served on many accessibility related research boards, and been participants in the technology group that formulated audio standards for compressed media.
Leo Garrison, UAA’s Senior Integration Specialist and the largest Assistive Listening Installer on the East Coast, has been have been designing and installing sound, lighting, and video systems for over 15 years. Garrison is a Level II certified Listen Technologies Hearing Loop Integration Partner which ensures that his customers’ hearing loop installations meet the highest performance standards. He has recently completed systems installation and accessibility projects for the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the Intrepid Sea, Air, and Space Museum, the Bronx Zoo, and the Nederlander Organization’s Theater Accessibility Expansion Initiative. Garrison is a sponsor of the Hearing Loss Association of America’s NYC Walk4Hearing and is a supporter of the League of Historic American Theaters.
Matt Kaplowitz has been president of a New York City-based audio/video post production house for over 25 years. He has directed and produced audio description and accessible multimedia for the last decade. Kaplowitz leads a research and development team, which includes Section 508 and W3C specialists, to implement universally accessible technology and content for television and digital media. He served as a member of U.S. State Department’s delegation representing the U.S. in establishing technical global standards for high definition television. Kaplowitz also served on the U.S. Access Board’s 508 Standards and the Telecommunications Act Guidelines Subcommittee for Software, Web, and Content. Most recently, his company received a 5-year technology access grant from the U.S. Department of Education.
